Re: reasonable vet options? no miracles required - Hi Annie, if it's all healed and scarred over, then I wouldn't sweat the lid opening a bit. Re: Making sure I have hens... - These do look like hens. Sometimes hens will grow spurs, usually happens in older birds. Re: [chicken-46] How far would you go? - I have not seen much luck with that issue.  Even after a surgery, I've seen the problem persist and the chicken die.  Chickens are amazing about healing from injuries, and there are alot of things i have coaxed my birds through.  But thats a tough kathy Oct 8, 2009 12:08 PM

Re: Buffs not yet laying - Buff Orps are a heavy breed, so typically take a bit longer to start laying, usually by the 6 months of age. Adding supplemental light could stimulate them to start laying sooner rather than later. A couple of extra hours in the morning could help. Charmaine Slaven Oct 5, 2009 10:48 AM
